Why organic?

In South Africa there are no laws regulating the use of the word “organic” on skincare labels and unfortunately there are many products on the market which falsely claim to be organic. The reality is that unless a product is certified organic you cannot be sure whether it is truly organic. SOiL aromatherapy products are certified organic by ECOCERT, France who, on an annual basis, inspect our farming and processing facilities to ensure we meet strict organic requirements and remain truly organic.

Our ECOCERT organic certification is your guarantee of the integrity of SOiL products. The ingredients we use are always selected to help you without harming the environment.

What is organic farming?

Organic products are farmed and processed without the use of chemicals such as pesticides and fertilisers. It has been proven that using these chemicals kills off micro-organisms in the soil, therefore reducing soil diversity. These chemicals are also known to pollute our ground water, killing off fish and marine life as well as polluting our drinking water. There are also many hazards to human health of consuming products contaminated by harmful non-organic agricultural toxins. Due to the way that essential oils are produced it takes a great deal of plant material to create even a small amount of oil. Residues of pesticides in concentrated form may appear in the oil if it has not been produced organically. Not using these chemicals, such as in organic farming, not only means that the end-product is free of these residual toxins. It also results in nutrient rich, fertile soil, which nourishes the plants by keeping chemicals off the land and protects water quality, plant life and wildlife, leading to a cleaner and more natural environment. Organic farming ensures that along with being free of many of the toxins that find their way into conventional “natural” products, our organic essential oils are also purer and more effective. Comforting to know when you consider that 60% of what you put onto your skin is absorbed into your body!

How do you know it is really organic?

Unlike the food industry, there is no license on the use of the word “organic” in health and beauty care. Anybody can write organic on their skin care label. There are many products on the market which claim to be organic. The reality is that unless a product is certified organic you cannot be sure whether it is truly organic. All SOiL aromatherapy products are certified organic by ECOCERT, France.
