OUR TIPS ON HOW TO BEAT THE JANUARY BLUES
Happy January!
January has arrived. The air is colder, the nights are drawing in and the days are getting shorter as we speak. The Christmas decorations have been packed away for another year and the Great British weather isn’t that great either. It can only mean one thing, it’s a new year and in our case, a new decade too! Welcome to 2020.
Kickstart your 2020 with new goals, dreams and plans for the year ahead. It may be you are taking the pledge to go vegan and joining the Veganuary community and moving to a plant-based diet. Going vegan for the month of January can be the push you need to make the change in your diet however have you thought about changing your body care products too? Making small changes within your lifestyle and changing one product at a time will make an impact on your lifestyle, making way to a healthier future.
Perhaps you want to try something new and challenge yourself such as taking up a new hobby or setting new goals in an activity. However, no one likes failure so the resolutions you make should be achievable.
Whatever you decide to do don’t let the doom and gloom January days get you down instead check out these top tips on how to beat the January blues and take time for self-care.
HEAD OUTDOORS
Studies have shown that heading outdoors in the Great British countryside can help to beat the January blues. Exposure to daylight is good for us and can boost the amount of ‘the happy hormone’ serotonin in the body as we often become depressed in darker months due to limitations of sunlight. Our brains love to be in sunlight and it also helps to regulate our sleep cycles properly. So, grab your coat, hat and scarf and wrap up warm and take your legs a walk outdoors in our Great British Countryside.
MAKE TIME FOR SELF CARE
If you can, take time to treat yourself to some me time at least once a week. Run a warm bath and add a few drops of our lavender organic essential oil to calm your body and mind. Lavender is known to be useful for treating anxiety, insomnia, depression and restlessness, making it the perfect fragrance to beat the January blues.
REFRESH YOUR SPACE
Refreshing your space can be easy and efficient without costing a fortune. Simple changes such as moving your furniture around or adding a new light can make all the difference. We love adding a touch of SOiL Organic Aromatherapy to your room with the colour changing ultra-sonic diffuser. The low energy, eco-friendly diffuser uses water and ultrasonic vibrations to disperse the molecules of essential oils into your room by a fine mist. Simply select your desired essential oil, add to your diffuser and reap the benefits. We suggest using the SOiL Organic Aromatherapy Energy Blend or an uplifting and cleansing aroma such as Lemon.
TREAT YOURSELF TO SOMETHING NEW
It might be the month to cut back but there’s nothing better than a little treat to help you beat the January blues. Have you tried SOiL Organic Aromatherapy Massage Oils? If not, now is the time. Available in six varieties to choose from and each one will enhance your well-being.

Please note that All SOiL essential oils are intended for external use only. Unless otherwise advised by a medical practitioner. Do not use undiluted on skin. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. If sensitivity occurs discontinue use. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking any medications or under medical supervision seek professional advice before use. Please keep out of reach of children.
SOiL advocates the responsible use of essential oils. We grow and source the finest quality essential oils from around the world to supply you with pure, potent plant extracts for aromatic and therapeutic applications. Essential oils are many times stronger than the plants they are derived from and are far more concentrated than the herbal tincture extracted from the same plant.
Accordingly, we recommend that you avoid oral use/ingesting pure essential oils without seeking professional advice beforehand. The issue is not the quality of the essential oils you take orally – there is no such thing as a ‘therapeutic grade’ of essential oil nor is one brand of essential oils safe to ingest over another brand. The issue is safety and even though essential oils are 100% natural, plant-derived extracts, they are botanical medicines which have the potential to cause harmful side effects when taken orally. Essential oils should only be prescribed for oral use in a clinical setting, by a suitably qualified practitioner.
There are many methods of obtaining the aromatic and therapeutic benefits of essential oils, namely; inhalation, massage, skincare preparations, bath and compress. If you require individual advice on oral use/ingestion or in relation to a specific medical condition, we recommend you consult a qualified practitioner, as described above.
