  • At SOiL, nearly all of our products are certified organic, with one exception:

    • Myrrh Essential Oil is currently sourced conventionally, as there is no ethically and sustainably harvested certified organic source available at this time.

All of SOiL’s essential oils and carrier oils are 100% certified organic by Ecocert. Our blended and formulated products also meet COSMOS ORGANIC standards, containing 95% or more certified organic content, and are held to the same high level of integrity.

  • Conventional essential oils are often grown with synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or GMOs, and may be extracted using chemical solvents. They typically lack transparency, traceability, and guarantees of purity.

In contrast, certified organic essential oils—like those from SOiL—are free from harmful chemicals at every stage, from farm to shelf. They’re audited annually by independent organisations such as Ecocert to ensure they meet strict ecological, ethical, and safety standards.

  • The term “organic” isn’t legally regulated in all countries, which means some products may use it without meeting meaningful standards. That’s why SOiL chooses to be certified by Ecocert under the internationally recognised COSMOS ORGANIC standard—providing you with peace of mind and proof of authenticity.

To earn COSMOS ORGANIC certification from Ecocert, a product must meet strict criteria:

    • At least 95% of plant-based ingredients must be organically produced

    • A minimum of 20% organic content is required in the total formula

    • Rinse-off products must contain at least 10% organic ingredients

This rigorous process ensures that every certified product truly reflects organic principles—from farm to final bottle. At SOiL, we only label a product as organic if it fully meets these standards. No shortcuts, no greenwashing—just genuine integrity.

  • Yes. SOiL essential oils are 100% pure, unadulterated, and not rectified or blended with fillers. Each batch is tested with GC/MS analysis and supported by Certificates of Analysis (CoA), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and Technical Data Sheets (TDS).

  • Essential oils are extracted from a wide range of plant parts, each offering its own unique properties and aroma:

    • Flowers – e.g. lavender, jasmine, rose

    • Leaves – e.g. eucalyptus, tea tree, geranium

    • Fruit rinds – e.g. lemon, orange, bergamot

    • Seeds & berries – e.g. fennel, black pepper, juniper

    • Bark & wood – e.g. cedarwood, cinnamon

    • Resins – e.g. frankincense, myrrh

    • Roots & Rhizomes – e.g. ginger, vetiver

Some plants are especially versatile, producing different essential oils from different parts. For instance, the bitter orange tree yields neroli (flowers), petitgrain (leaves), and bitter orange oil (peel).

  • At SOiL, we do not recommend ingesting essential oils—not just ours, but any brand.

This isn’t a reflection of quality. Our oils are certified organic and meet the highest international standards for purity and safety.

Our position is based on serious safety concerns. Essential oils are highly concentrated and can be harmful if taken internally without expert supervision. Ingestion should only be considered under the guidance of a qualified medical professional or clinical aromatherapist trained in essential oil pharmacology.

Potential risks of internal use include:

    • Damage to internal tissues or organs

    • Interactions with medications

    • Toxicity or severe adverse reactions

  • No. Essential oils should never be added to water and consumed — not even a single drop. Because oil and water do not mix, the oil remains undiluted and can adhere to internal tissues, potentially causing irritation, chemical burns, or internal toxicity.

Even the highest-quality, certified organic essential oils are not inherently safe to ingest. The risk comes from how they are used – not the brand or purity.

  • Essential oils are powerful, highly concentrated plant extracts and should be used with extra caution during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, and when caring for babies or young children. These life stages are especially sensitive, and not all oils are appropriate. Proper dilution is essential to reduce any risk.

We strongly advise speaking with a qualified aromatherapist or healthcare professional before using essential oils in these situations.

Oils generally considered safe—with correct dilution and professional guidance—include:

    • Pregnancy (after the first trimester): Lavender, Neroli, Frankincense, Roman Chamomile, Geranium, Ylang Ylang

    • Babies (3 months and older): Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Mandarin

    • Children (2 years and older): Lavender, Frankincense, Sweet Orange, Cedarwood

    Essential oils to avoid include:
Camphor, Parsley Seed, Hyssop, Pennyroyal, Wintergreen, as well as Eucalyptus (under 10 years) and Peppermint (under 6 years).

  • Essential oils are highly concentrated and must be diluted before use – especially for babies, children, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, the elderly, or those with sensitive skin. Some oils are not suitable for these groups. Always patch test before first use, avoid contact with eyes, and keep out of reach of children. For safe and appropriate use, consult a qualified aromatherapist or healthcare professional.

  • Carrier oils—such as Jojoba, Baobab, and Kalahari Melon Seed—are nutrient-rich, lipid-based oils used to dilute essential oils before applying them to the skin. This dilution is essential for reducing the risk of irritation and ensuring safe topical use.

Beyond dilution, carrier oils offer their own skin-nourishing benefits, making them ideal for both aromatherapy and skincare routines.

SOiL offers a certified organic range of carrier oils, carefully selected for purity, performance, and compatibility with essential oils.

  • Stop use immediately. Apply carrier oil to the affected area – do not use water. Seek medical help if symptoms persist.

If ingested: Do not induce vomiting. Drink milk and seek emergency help.

If in eyes: Gently wipe with a cotton pad dipped in carrier oil or rinse with cool water.

    • Use 3–6 drops per 100ml of water

    • Diffuse for 30–60 minutes at a time

    • Ensure proper ventilation

    • Choose child- and pet-safe oils

  • Some essential oils can be toxic to animals, particularly cats, birds, and small pets. Extra caution is essential when using oils in homes with animals.

    Oils to avoid include:
Tea Tree, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Wintergreen, Citrus oils, Clove, Cinnamon, Pine, and Thyme.

    Safety Tips:

    • Only diffuse in well-ventilated areas

    • Use small amounts for short durations

    • Ensure pets can freely leave the room

    • Never apply oils directly to your pet’s fur or skin

    • Avoid all essential oil use around birds

    • Consult a veterinarian experienced in essential oil safety before use around animals

    • Store in dark glass bottles

    • Keep lids tightly sealed

    • Protect from heat and sunlight

    • Keep away from children and pets

    • Essential oils are flammable – store safely
